Project Objective:
To actively contribute to helping low-income women and youth affected by COVID-19 recover from crisis situations by providing vocational skills training, creating opportunities for them to start small businesses, and ensuring their employment.
The project was implemented in rural districts of Uzbekistan in social partnership with local government authorities, mahallas, and NGOs to mitigate the effects of COVID-19, address its economic and social consequences, and meet the needs of women and youth impacted by the pandemic.
Achieved Results:
In Buston and Izboskan districts (Andijan region) and Oqdaryo and Urgut districts (Samarkand region), 1,185 women and youth acquired vocational skills, 443 individuals secured employment, 308 women (exceeding the planned 185) with the best business plans were awarded grants to start their own enterprises, an electronic database was created to document all provided services.
Additionally, within the project framework: 12 informational meetings and 12 community mobilization training sessions were conducted for 834 mahalla activists and local government representatives, comprehensive social services (including medical, psychological, and legal assistance) were provided to 2,485 individuals (exceeding the planned 1,300).
