Empowering Women through the Development and Implementation of Rural Tourism Entrepreneurship in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan (DIANA)

Empowering Women through the Development and Implementation of Rural Tourism Entrepreneurship in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan (DIANA)

Coordinator: Sh. Ualikhanov Kokshetau University (KokSU).

Implementation period
November 1, 2025 – October 31, 2028 (36 months)

Mission fit (for DIANA):
Promoting women’s economic and social rights and developing women’s entrepreneurship in rural tourism: ensuring access to financial and information resources, organizing training and upskilling jointly with partner universities, and building partnerships with local stakeholders. The goal is to enhance the competitiveness of women entrepreneurs and ensure their sustainable participation in market relations within DIANA.

Concrete activities and timeline
1. Connect women entrepreneurs to joint student–community projects in rural tourism; participate in consultations and local university events.
2. As a stakeholder, provide consultative input during course development to reflect market needs and local community priorities.
3. Disseminate project information; contribute to materials and regular communications/publications.

Expected results
• Stronger regional cooperation: deepen practical collaboration between partners in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan through joint trainings, study visits, and pilot activities.
• Inclusion in mobilities: eligibility for trainings, study visits, and coordination meetings with EU and Central Asian partners.
• Access to tools and content: use of DIANA training toolkits, course materials, and good-practice cases for SABR’s own programmes.
• Network & visibility: broader stakeholder network (universities, municipalities, tourism bodies, NGOs) and greater public visibility through project dissemination.
