"Mobile Acceleration Courses to provide employment to the population of remote mahallas of Akdarya and Urgut districts of Samarkand region", funded by the Small Grants Program of the U.S. Embassy in Uzbekistan.

Project Goal:
To improve the socio-economic situation of vulnerable women and youth in remote rural mahallas and to reduce the level of domestic violence.

Project Objectives:

To train unemployed women and youth in four mahallas of Akdarya District and four mahallas of Urgut District of Samarkand Region in sewing, confectionery, hairdressing, and computer skills;

To assist with their employment through the provision of subsidies and microloans;

To provide legal consultations to the population with the aim of preventing cases of domestic violence.

Achieved Results:
The initial plan was to provide professional training for 720 women and girls in the two districts. However, in practice, 761 people received certificates of completion of the vocational courses — 690 women and 71 men, including 36 people with disabilities.
Out of all those trained, 100 individuals found employment, and 255 individuals have now opened their own microbusinesses or are registered as self-employed. 340 people received legal consultations.
A total of 451 people participated in business training sessions aimed at improving knowledge and skills in business start-up, financial literacy, and business management.
