Women Cultural and Business Forum “Pearl of the East” Great Britain/Uzbekistan

October  28, 2009 Women Cultural and Business Forum “Pearl of the East” Great Britain/Uzbekistan was held in Great Britain, London. It was organized by NGO “The Haven Wolverhampton” (Great Britain) and “SABR” Socio Economic Development Center (Uzbekistan, Samarkand).

The aim of the forum: organization and strengthening of partnership with English women. Promotion of the achievements of NGOs from Uzbekistan at the international arena. Presentation of real position of women in Uzbekistan. The role of women in the development of civil society and economy of the country.

“Pearl of the East” women Forum became a logical continuation of the Forum “Socio-economic initiatives of women in Uzbekistan”, which was held in Uzbekistan, Samarkand in 2008.

The participants of the Forum: Chair of the British-Uzbek Society, members of the British Parliament, Ambassadors of Uzbekistan in Great Britain and Great Britain in Uzbekistan, ambassadors from Azerbaijan, Belorussia, Kirgizia, Macedonia, business, culture, media and NGO representatives, Uzbek Airways (Havo Yullary) representatives and guests from “The Haven Wolverhampton”. From the Uzbek side: Chair of OO “Women’s Council”, Ministry of Justice of Uzbekistan representative, Socio Economic Development Center “SABR” staff, musicians from the national ensemble “Ofarin”. International experts and representatives of international organizations from Netherlands, USA, Russia (St. Petersburg, Ekaterinburg) participated in the Forum.

Presentations from Great Britain and Uzbekistan were held, exhibition of art and photography of Frederique Beaupertuls-Bressand, co-founder of the Timurid association (France, Paris) was presented for the participants. The Forum was beautified by the performance of the popular in Uzbekistan national music ensemble “Ofarin”, directed by the honored artist of Uzbekistan Abdukhashim Ismailov.

“Pearl of the East” international Forum helped to form a new perception of the Uzbek culture, presentations from Uzbek and British sides helped better understanding of two countries, exhibition of art and photography and fashion show of Uzbek designers became a real decoration of the event. Musical greeting of national ensemble added to the beauty of the Forum.
